Betsey Johnson Fall 2012 Collection
One of my favorite designers of all time is Betsey Johnson.
With her youthful collections and whimsical designs, it is so hard to believe that this year, she will be turning 70!
As an ode to her upcoming birthday, Betsey's Fall 2012 collection, shown at New York Fashion Week, is her own take on 60's rock n' roll style.
What makes this collection so unique is that Betsey's designs were inspired by the fashions that she grew up wearing. She also drew inspiration from The Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix songs.
Betsey's Fall 2012 runway show was a complete Betseymania party! Betsey's collections are usually pretty racey, but because of the old school 60's theme, she kept the garments fairly reserved and mod, making the collection extremely wearable. We saw turtlenecks, printed blouses, and pea coats go down the runway, paired with hot pants, knee-high boots, red gloves, tights and round sunglasses.
Betsey really took us back to Beatlemania with her new collection. I personally loved her choice of music and colors used in the show.
"She always keeps it fun! It doesn't feel so uptight," said model and actress Angela Simmons.
I strongly agree with Angela and love Betsey for how truly creative she is.
Here are just some of my favorite looks from the show-
Here are some other looks from the show, that particularly display a single pop of color.
And of course, the show concluded with Betsey's famous cartwheel and split right in the middle of the runway.

i love Betsey Johnson the spirit and energy she put into her shows. Its always refreshing to me to watch her runway shows. I remember when i was high school and all the fashionistas had a Betsey bag.
ReplyDeleteBetsy Johnson is always one of my favorites. I just love her eccentric personality and you can always see how it is transposed into her designs. I especially loved all the patterns she used this season and thought it was so fun that all the models acted so sassy during the runway show.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love Betsey Johnson because she uses bold colors and wild prints, a different approach unlike any other. Her personality can clearly be seen through her designs and that's what makes her unique!
